Stimulators

A spinal cord stimulator is an electrical device surgically placed beneath the skin, to alleviate spinal pain. The insertion of a stimulator can allow pain to be relieved, without or in conjunction with medication.

The electrical signals from the device block pain by masking the signals sent to the brain. It does not stop the pain, just changes how the patient’s brain receives it, so the level of pain relief is different for every patient. The implant is tested before it is implanted is done to ensure it will function as expected once under the skin.
